- Graduate from a Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA), Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT), and American Medical Association (AMA)-approved school of radiologic technology.
- Hold current licensure for the specific area, including CRT, Fluoroscopy, or Mammography, as applicable.
- Complete formal radiologic technology training at an AMA-approved school.
- Be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and certified by the State of California Bureau of Radiological Health.
- Hold current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Have at least two years of computer tomography experience (preferred).
- Have at least two years of general radiologic technology experience (preferred).
- Identify the appropriate tests to be performed and produce high-quality radiographs in a reasonable amount of time to provide radiologists and patients’ physicians with accurate and useful medical information; administer safe contrast media.
- Attend to patients’ physical and emotional needs before, during, and after exams to ensure proper care and a positive examination experience.
- Prepare equipment for procedures and keep the exam area and equipment clean.
- Maintain accurate records and perform clerical duties for each exam to meet departmental and Joint Commission requirements; accurately record procedures and pertinent information for billing.
- Use the radiology information system (RIS) and related interfaces to support integrated, automated patient-care goals.
- Contribute to patient flow so patients are seen in a timely and efficient manner.
- Maintain clear communication and timely follow-up to support physician relationships and partnerships; provide additional information on x-ray requests to help radiologists dictate all necessary exam findings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

MemorialCare has expanded its thoracic surgery programme with the addition of Matthew D. Stanley, M.D., a board-certified, fellowship-trained thoracic surgeon. Dr Stanley will be based primarily at MemorialCare Todd Cancer Institute at Long Beach Medical Center, where he will work alongside pulmonologists, gastroenterologists, oncologists and other specialists. He specialises in minimally invasive and robotic procedures for both cancerous and non-cancerous conditions. These include lung and oesophageal cancer, airway disorders, severe reflux and hiatal hernias. Using da Vinci 5 and da Vinci Xi surgical systems, Dr Stanley can perform complex procedures through small incisions. The expansion also includes plans to develop MemorialCare's Lung Nodule Programme through closer collaboration among radiology, pulmonology, thoracic surgery and nurse navigation teams.
MemorialCare has appointed Hoda Assadian as chief operating officer for Long Beach Medical Center and Miller Children's & Women's Hospital. In her new role, Assadian will lead operational strategy across the shared Long Beach campus, working with leadership, physicians, and nursing teams to advance operational performance and support the hospitals' journey towards high reliability. Assadian brings extensive experience from academic medical centres, including UCI Health, and large public hospitals such as Los Angeles General Medical Center. Her background as an industrial engineer has shaped her collaborative approach to improving care delivery and removing barriers for patients and care teams. LCCN Staff Report Patients living along the 605 corridor now have access to advanced artificial intelligence-assisted spine surgery technology at MemorialCare Long Beach Medical Center, where surgeons are using new imaging and navigation systems designed to improve precision and safety during complex spinal procedures. Exploring Travel Maps MemorialCare's Orthopedic & Spine Institute recently became the first hospital in California to implement the Stryker Q Guidance 5 System with CoPilot in combination with the Airo TruCT Mobile CT. The technology creates a three-dimensional view of a patient's spine during surgery, allowing surgeons to map procedures before making an incision and make real-time adjustments throughout the operation. "We were the first hospital in California to use Q Guidance 5 with CoPilot," said Dr. Brandon Ortega, a spine surgeon at MemorialCare Orthopedic & Spine Institute. "This technology allows us to plan a customized approach based on each patient's unique anatomy and helps us stay precisely on course throughout the procedure." The system is designed to help surgeons plan the safest path for instruments and implants before surgery begins while providing continuous guidance during the procedure. If a patient's anatomy shifts during surgery, the system immediately updates, helping surgeons maintain accuracy and avoid critical structures. The Airo TruCT Mobile CT provides detailed imaging inside the operating room, allowing physicians to verify implant placement and spinal alignment without requiring additional scans after surgery. "The technology gives us better visibility and helps us anticipate challenges and adjust as needed," said Dr. Phillip Yuan, a spine surgeon at MemorialCare Orthopedic & Spine Institute. He said greater efficiency during surgery can reduce time under anesthesia while lowering the risk of infection and other complications. The technology can be used for both traditional and minimally invasive spine surgery, depending on a patient's condition and treatment goals.
